Working with bulk fertilizers can be a challenge due to their natural tendency to absorb moisture and deliquesce. The rate of deliquescence often increases when fertilizers are blended together, making them more vulnerable to moisture absorption than each separate fertilizer on its own.

Arkema-ArrMaz’s Lucas R. Moore, Global Director of Coatings Technology, and Juan A. González-León, R&D Manager Crop Nutrition Europe, were recently interviewed by World Fertilizer on their article featured in the Nov/Dec 2020 issue entitled ”Solving Moisture Absorption Challenges,” in which they examine solutions to reduce the tendency of fertilizer substrates to deliquesce or absorb moisture. This Spotlight Q&A session discusses some of the key concepts addressed in Juan’s and Lucas’ article, which demonstrates how, with the appropriate coating, deliquescence can be significantly reduced and fertilizer shelf life increased, even in high relative humidity regions.

Phosphate is a non-renewable resource and must be managed accordingly. Understanding the phosphate industry from beginning to end is the key to unlocking the true potential of phosphate ore to produce superior quality fertilizer sustainably and cost-effectively.

Better rock processing from the mine improves grade and recovery creating a more valuable rock and better feed stock for fertilizer plants, enabling them to produce higher value fertilizer. Better quality fertilizer in turn delivers greater benefits to farmers, improving crop yields, livestock nutrition and food quality to meet the needs of a growing global population. Mining chemicals and fertilizer process aids are essential to creating such value throughout the phosphate fertilizer supply chain.

This webinar will examine the why’s and how’s of phosphate optimization, including the roles that mining, mineral processing, fertilizer production and coatings all play in optimizing from mine to market.

BASIS FACTS CPD points will be earned.

The Importance of Phosphate Optimization from Mine to Market

The May 2021 issue of Allied Paving Equipment (APE) magazine features expert advice on Additives from our very own Brad Gibbs, Commercial Manager, Arkema-Road Science. In the article, Brad shares invaluable insights into:

  • How contractors can ensure the additives used in their mix designs will add value to the quality of their asphalt mixes, prevent stripping of asphalt from the aggregates, and provide protection against pavement distresses, to create safer, longer-lasting roads.
  • The added value of using high-performance adhesion promoters, warm mix additives as well as additives that help utilize a higher percentage of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) such as those provided by Arkema-Road Science.
  • The three primary advantages of incorporating additives in pavement mixes.
